Live Music in Banff

Banff & Canmore Alberta in the Canadian Rockies welcome visitors and tourists year-round and there's plenty of nightlife, live music performances and entertainment. Banff and Canmore offer a large selection of music venues, many within a few minutes walk of each other. Dress-code is casual in all pubs and bars. Make sure to arrive early so you can take your pick of the best seats in the house.

Aurora

The Aurora is one of the few nightclubs in Banff and usually gets hopping a little later in the evening. DJs spin tunes every night playing the latest club music however live music is rare here.

Banff Alpine Centre

Check out the 'Storm Cellar' downstairs on Wednesday nights for a relaxed open-mic night. House band "Butternut" warms up the crowd, then musicians may queue up for a chance to play with others.

Banff Centre

Brunos Bar & Grill

Brunos is a small but inviting eatery just off the main street, Banff Avenue. The burgers here are fantastic and on Wednesday nights, musicians should check out the open-mic night hosted by Gary.

The 'Gap' is Banff's only heavy metal and alternative bar and frequently has live bands and performances.

The Grizzly Paw Brewing Company

A cozy pub/restaurant offering its own proprietary pints and award-winning burgers, located downtown Canmore. Check out jam night every Tuesday night starting at 9pm, hosted by John Van Hall.

Magpie & Stump

A comfortable joint with Mexican cuisine and plenty of margaritas to choose from. The 'Magger' has bands occasionally but more recently offers an open-mic night on Mondays.

HooDoo

HooDoo is Banff's other nightclub and like the Aurora, doesn't start hopping till around 11pm. Live music is also rare here.

Rose & Crown, Banff

Banff's oldest pub, the 'Rose' offers live entertainment nightly. Comfortable seating is available by the fireplace or there's plenty of room in the dining area, the pool room or on the roof-top patio in the summer. A fantastic pub/restaurant with a great selection of steaks and cozy comfortable, mountain atmosphere. The Saltlik has live performances from time to time.
